Legally wed on the Potomac in Virginia?

Posted on June 23, 2017 at 1:30 PM

It is easy to overlook that the Potomac River along King George & Westmoreland county boundaries is under the jurisdiction of Charles County, Maryland.

If you are planning to GET HITCHED on your family's local pier or the Riverboat Restaurant or Coles Point Tavern (just to name a few places along the Potomac River), remember you are in MARYLAND and will need an official marriage license from a Maryland Courthouse.

Of course, you can get married on shore in Virginia and have a photo shoot at your favorite Maryland restaurant or pier.

Bryce Hall, Marriage Officiant, is licensed to officiate in Virginia and Maryland. It is up to YOU to have the correct marriage license.

Make sure your marriage is legal!
